  • Round 150mm or 200mm posts are H5 (in ground use), treated pine logs.

  • All timber is sustainably sourced and a renewable resource.

Common FAQ's

Q. Does the timber split?

A. The round logs will split typically, although it does become part of there charm. Some customers have filled the cracks, but most leave them. The other timber doesn't tend to split.

Q. How long does the timber last?

A. The posts are guaranteed for 30 years in the ground, although we supply galvanised posts supports, so typically the posts do not go into the ground.

Q. How are the posts connected to a hard surface.

A. Typically they are connected via an L bracket, which is dyna bolted to the surface, unless your builder has other ideas.

Q. How do the posts get connected to bare ground.

A. The posts are treated with H4 treatment, which means they can go into the ground, however we provide a galvanised post support, which gets connected to the base. This will get concreted into the ground, with the post above the ground.

Staining

Unless otherwise specified we use a Cabots decking oil with a Merbau tint. Its easily accessible and an easy application and very user friendly for re application on the posts in the future.

Bali Thatch

We use the best quality, all natural, white string (density rating) Alang Alang thatch. It is not treated with toxic fire retardant.

The thatch comes on 2500mm long bamboo battens, and the thatch is approximately 800mm to 900mm in length.

For re thatching calculations we will need you to supply the style of construction (eg hipped roof, gable roof, skillion roof) outside measurements of your roof. Also let us know if you need any ridge pieces.

The expected lifespan for Alang Alang is 8 to 12 years, site dependent. Often the hip sections will require attention before the main roof, which is a relatively easy process. The cost of replacement for the product is approximately half of the initial cost.

For those that can access the Central Coast of NSW, we have a Bali Hut on display at the wonderful Wyee Nursery. 103 Wyee Rd, Wyee. Grab a coffee or bite to eat from the cafe, and have a wonder around the amazing nursery.

Common FAQ's.

A. No maintenance is required. Should the hips require some more thatch before a complete re thatch is done, this is easily achieved by applying were it is needed.

Q. What is the spacings between the thatch?

A. Our premium huts are thatched at 80mm between the strips and our standard huts are thatched at 120mm spacings. There is 30% more thatch on our premium huts.

Q. Can we purchase it by the strip.

A. Yes. There is no limit.

Q. Is there any warranty on the thatch?

A. No. There is no warranty on natural products.

They would need to be collected from the depot, or organise further transport from that point. We use Toll, Tnt and Mainfreight as carriers, so have most places catered for.

Q. Is the hardware galvanised steel?

A. Yes

Q. Do you supply all of the parts needed?

A. Typically yes, with the exception of the fixings for the thatch strips on the Bali huts, as contractors will generally have a coil nailer or the like to fix the battens on with.

African Thatch

We source the highest quality, all natural,  Cape Reed thatch imported from Africa. It is not treated with toxic fire retardant.

The thatch comes as a 800mm x 450mm x 25mm tile. They are on a rubber spline with clips, which enables them to be placed onto an 8mm steel rod for our round Gazebos, or be fixed to a timber batten for our square/rectangle Gazebos.

For re thatching calculations we will need you to supply the style of construction (eg hipped roof, gable roof, skillion roof) outside measurements of your roof. Also let us know if you need any ridge pieces.
